How Jessica Simpson’s Net Worth Exploded
Simpson’s entrepreneurial spirit has made major contributions to her wealth.
The lifestyle brand she developed, the Jessica Simpson Collection, was bringing in $1 billion in annual retail sales when she sold a majority stake in 2016. This move earned Simpson a spot in Forbes’ 2016 piece Eight Women Entrepreneurs to Watch.
The Jessica Simpson Collection features a line of mid-priced clothing and accessories that are sold in department stores like Dillard’s and Kohl’s, as well as on the Home Shopping Network. The brand’s biggest draw is that it targets women of all sizes and shapes.
Simpson said that she, herself, has needed clothing in a range of sizes over the course of her adult life, and she wanted to offer fun, fashionable options for those who don’t fit the traditional runway model body type.
What may be most interesting about Jessica Simpson as an entrepreneur is that growing her business wasn’t a side project or a post-acting career move. She launched the Jessica Simpson Collection in 2005, as she simultaneously made massive strides in the music and entertainment fields.
Simpson put the same focus and effort into the success of her business by seeking out industry leaders to serve as mentors.
One of her earliest partners was the co-founder of Nine West, Vince Camuto, and she has always been quick to credit him with her rapid success in the world of fashion.
The sale of a large chunk of her first company doesn’t spell the end of Simpson’s entrepreneurial ambition. She is now planning a new venture into beauty, featuring fresh takes on traditional cosmetics.

It was during one of the pregnancies that Simpson was on the receiving end of some very unwanted media attention about her ballooning weight. Having portrayed American icon, Daisy Duke, Simpson was attacked for her “unflattering” figure. She responded in unison with her sister, Ashlee, that she was comfortable with her body.
