Morgan Freeman Breakthrough Roles

Believe it or not, Morgan began his acting career on soap operas like Another World.

He is reported to not have enjoyed his experience on the kids show The Electric Company, but it wasn’t long before his big break came when he played Fast Black in Street Smart (1987). That movie spring-boarded him to success.

Still, it wasn’t until his role In Driving Miss Daisy that global fame came knocking. And once the door to acting success and fame opened, a run of huge hits followed.

Blockbuster movies like Robinhood: Prince of Thieves, starring Kevin Costner, and Seven, starring Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow, catapulted Freeman to global fame.

As the narrator of March of the Penguins, Freeman gained a new following of fans thanks to his silky voice and a compelling real-life storyline.

Then came a further string of movie blockbusters, including the Batman movie series: Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises.

It seemed his successful films knew no bounds with roles in Million Dollar Baby, Invictus, and London Has Fallen, all receiving glowing reviews. Is it any wonder Morgan has become a very wealthy man?

Morgan Freeman Personal Life

Perhaps most surprising of all to acting fans worldwide is that Morgan declined a scholarship from Jackson State University. Instead he chose to pursue a career in the military, specifically the United States Airforce, where he served for 4 years.

Upon graduating Airman 1st Class, he moved to the West Coast where he took dance classes in San Francisco and acting classes at the Pasadena Playhouse.

While his acting career has seemingly blossomed without any upper ceiling, Freeman’s relationships have not been bestowed with as much luck. He has divorced both his former spouses, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw in 1979 and Myrna Colley Lee in 2010.
